Striving for Excellence and Celebrating Success

Curriculum Overview

We teach a broad, balanced and challenging curriculum throughout the school, setting out to achieve high standards and to educate children of all abilities to maximise their strengths and talents. While our teaching programme is built around the National Curriculum it is enhanced with lessons in Religious Education, French and Personal, Social and Health Education. We promote effective learning for all by striving for excellence in all areas of the curriculum and by celebrating success.

There are 2 classes in each Year Group from Reception to Year 6 with an average class size of 15 pupils. In Early Years and in the Lower School every class is assigned a teaching assistant while Upper School Year groups share teaching assistants. We enable children to progress at a pace that suits their individual abilities. More able pupils are offered extended study programmes while additional learning support is available for those who need it. We determine our own school curriculum, which goes beyond the guidelines set out in the National Curriculum. Our teachers have the skills and the resources to provide interesting and challenging work within the framework of the school’s curriculum.
