Trips & Visits

Classroom lessons and topics are all brought to life by our comprehensive programme of trips and visits to the school by invited guests. These broaden the children’s experiences and enhance learning.

Day Trips

Day Tripsl

Day trips are a regular part of school life with pupils visiting art galleries, theatres, exhibitions, museums and events such as the Evacuee Day at Margaret McMillan House. Year 6 pupils visit the Houses of Parliament where they have the opportunity to talk to MPs and learn more about the country’s political structure. The cost of day trips are included in the school fees.

Residential Trips

Residential trips start in Year 4 with a field trip to the Margaret McMillan Centre in Kent. A river survey, a village survey and a study of local land use are all part of a 3-day trip packed with activities, events and games. It is an ideal, secure environment for children away from home for the first time. Year 5 children go on a 5-day field trip to the Townsend Environmental Study Centre in Dorset where they enjoy a range of outdoor activities including orienteering, a coastal survey, a smugglers talk and other pursuits. Year 6 children get the chance to practise their language skills on a 5-day residential activity holiday at the Chateau du Broutel in Normandy during the summer term.

Visitors to the School

Visitors are regularly invited to speak in class and assemblies to share their views or experiences. Some of our regular visitors include the Rev Annette Rose from All Saints’ Church New Eltham, representatives from Smile International and other local charities and Pastor Stephen Jota from Uganda. Over the last few years the children have enjoyed workshops in music, history, drama, maths, art and circus skills.
