Sport

We aim to nurture and develop the competence and confidence of all children in a range of activities.

A balanced provision of ‘sport for all’ and competitive opportunities allows children to leave us with a lifelong passion for sport and physical activity.

Pupils display courage in class, being prepared to risk getting things right or wrong, appreciating that it is the process of finding out the best answer that matters.

Through a varied Physical Education curriculum, children have the opportunity to develop physically and creatively through activities such as athletics, table tennis, dance, basketball, fitness, tennis, tag rugby and football.

Within these lessons, all children will have the opportunity to develop competitiveness, leadership, sportsmanship and teamwork in traditional team sports.  Every Upper School child will also have the opportunity to represent St Olave’s Prep in fixtures against other schools.

Pupils know that physical activity is essential for health and demonstrate their commitment through their participation in a range of sports and physical fitness pursuits

Children attend the Eric Lidell Centre for swimming lessons from Year 2, where they are taught by qualified instructors.  Children of all abilities are catered for within our swimming lessons, from the non-swimmer to the club swimmer. The lessons are structured and are split into groups as necessary. All groups are taught about safety within the pool environment and water confidence.
