At St Olave’s, pupils have the opportunity to develop their musical talents through individual instrumental and singing lessons with our team of experienced peripatetic teachers. Lessons are available in piano, violin, guitar, harp and singing, allowing children to explore a wide range of musical interests and discover the joy of performing.
Instrumental tuition takes place during the school day, making it convenient for families while ensuring music becomes a natural and valued part of school life. Lessons are delivered on a one-to-one basis, enabling teachers to tailor their approach to each child’s ability, confidence and musical goals.
Pupils may choose to learn for enjoyment, or work towards recognised grade examinations when they are ready. Our peripatetic teachers support children carefully through this process, helping them develop technical skills, musical understanding and performance confidence.
Throughout the year, pupils are given opportunities to perform in school concerts and musical events. These occasions allow children to share their progress, celebrate their achievements and experience the excitement of performing in front of an audience.
Instrumental and singing lessons are offered as an optional extra and are charged in addition to school fees. Further details, including availability and lesson arrangements, can be requested from the school office.
