At St Olave's Prep we encourage the children to have a positive impact on our local community. This might be through bringing food for a local Food Bank, raising money for local or national charities or working closely with other local schools. We also engage with various community groups throughout the year - click on the links below for further details.
We have a longstanding relationship with Frognal House Care Home and regularly take the children to visit the residents. We sing carols at Christmas, play games and share our work, perform musical recitals and we even take our youngest children along for a lovely chat!
Each term, we encourage our families to support the local New Eltham Litter Pick, which takes place on a Sunday morning. Families from across the school join other local residents and spend an hour making New Eltham a cleaner, nicer place to live, work and go to school in. We are very proud of our families for their continuous support of this initiative and it is greatly appreciated by everyone in the community.
At St Olave's there is nothing we love more than reading a good book, and Sally, our local Librarian, is always on hand with a recommendation and a story time when we visit. We also love taking part in the Summer Reading Challenges and look forward to Sally's assemblies about this every year! How lucky are we to have such an amazing resource on our doorstep!
At All Saints' Church, we work closely with Reverend Rose to learn all about the Christian Faith. We are also very fortunate to hold our Harvest, Christmas and Easter Services to parents here. We support the Church in their fundraising efforts, most recently for the local Food Bank and MammaKind, a charity that helps new mothers and babies.
Every year, we support the local community and make the most of our amazing allotment produce and the children's green fingers by running a stall at the New Eltham Community Plant Sale. We sell all sorts of plants and flowers, although the strawberry plants and sunflowers always go down particularly well!
The Friends of Southwood Park are a group of local volunteers who work tirelessly to make the park a nicer place for all residents and park users. We support them with fundraising, raising awareness and helping at community events and by teaching the children to become involved in our local community.
At the annual Parkfest in Southwood Park, we join our fellow local residents for a day of fun, food and festivities for the whole family. We again showcase our allotment produce but also provide activities for our younger visitors to enjoy while they are there.
